About the Designer
Cristóbal Balenciaga Eizaguirre, who founded his namesake label in 1919, was perhaps the original fashion 'disruptor', rewriting its rules by playing with silhouettes in the 1950s (think broad shoulders). Plus, Balenciaga was the first maison to design the balloon jacket and tunic dress.
