Bridalwear envy and ceramic cigarettes

We like our eyewear to have a serious impact, and these rectangular acetate frames by French label Emmanuelle Khanh will be sure to turn heads.

Eurovision fans around the world were flabbergasted when the United Kingdom not only showcased a catchy song at this year’s event, but also came second place. However, what caught KOIBIRD’s attention was the intricate pearl and beading work on singer Sam Ryder’s outfit. Designed by stylist Luke Jefferson Day in collaboration with @jennykingembroidery, the suit took over 200 hours to make and utilised 15,000 pearls, beads and magic gems. Extra points if you spotted the beaded sunflower symbolising support for Ukraine.

An Al Fresco brunch – featuring South American fare with vegan desserts like Guatemalan chocolate mousse – on The Mandrake’s Jurema Terrace is the perfect finale to a busy Sunday in the city. Cocktail wise, we can’t wait to try The Blue Lotus – a cool concoction of Grey Goose, raspberry, bergamot, lemon, Veuve Clicquot, blue lotus and passion flower.

Alma Berrow’s ceramics are undeniably cool. From stubbed-out cigarettes on ashtrays to miniature pills, they make for excellent Instagram fodder. Now, a new exhibition at Lamb Gallery (her first solo show there) entitled No More Than Five – with eight ceramic scenes – will explore Berrow’s love of checkers, a game she has been playing since she was 16. However, this will not be a static behind-glass show – guests will be invited to play the game, and there are rumours of a serious prize for the winner.

Private view 25.05 6pm-8pm, Exhibition date 26.05 - 18.06.2022, LAMB Gallery 32 St. George Street
