Berlin-based Alina Abegg launched her company in 2016 with the aim to deliver sustainable and beautifully crafted jewellery, all with a playful twist. Using recycled gold and ethically sourced stones from local German craftsmen, Abegg’s fascination for gemology is apparent in her exquisite huggie hoops, studs and pinky rings all punctuated with pink sapphires, diamonds and amethysts. Conjuring childhood nostalgia, Abegg’s ‘Cosmic Escape’ collection gives aliens a new home here on earth - and your fingers. Speaking of, the alien pinky ring is a favourite of Sarah South, Junior Jewellery Buyer at KOIBIRD who suggests wearing yours with equally bejewelled garb. “The purple tones of the alien pinky ring will look amazing paired with Adriana Degreas Deco Shell Pieces,” she says.

BRINKER & ELIZA

Having stocked Brinker & Eliza at KOIBIRD since SS19, they’ve become a firm favourite with the buying team. Made and designed in Connecticut, the mother and daughter duo behind the brand are a force to be reckoned with. What began as a hobby in 2016 (the pair made one-off pieces for friends and family) turned into a thriving business. Now, 6 years later, their cult chunky chains have adorned the necks of fashion clan members such as Leandra Medine and Julie Sariñana to name but a few. Their jewellery has a special one-off quality about it with designs inspired by the ‘found’ object - think pearls, shells and vintage pendants.

Having graduated from renowned art school Central Saint Martins, Bea Bongiasca launched her Jewellery line in Milan in 2013. Drawing influence from pop culture, her designs can be found in the jewellery boxes of pop legends Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus, as well as being one of our most popular jewellery brands to date. Juxtaposing enamel and precious gemstones, the designer’s iconic ‘You’re So Vine’ fluro-fuelled collection consists of colourful rings (a bestseller at KOIBIRD) which wrap around the fingers like botanical tendrils. Totally mood-boosting, South suggests wearing Bongiasca’s pieces en-masse, stacked in multiple colourways or on their own with an eye-popping manicure.

Anna Jewsbury, founder and designer of London-based jewellery brand Completedworks, has swiftly become a cult name thanks to her keen eye for perfectly imperfect mismatched earrings and necklaces. ‘Completedworks designs are truly timeless’ says South, “their sculptural signatures make a statement paired with Lingua Franca or Sandra Mansour knits”.
