The rise of cut-outs
Generally speaking, we aren’t ones for cutting things out of our lives. Toxic energy, yes. But sugar, gluten, alcohol and whatnot? Never. That would make for a very boring existence (genuine intolerances aside). Cut-outs, however? Those have our absolute adoration.
You could take the plainest item of clothing in the world and a cut-out would instantly transform it into something exciting. Cut-outs have huge range – they can reveal anything from an entire hip to just a snippet of stomach. In terms of shape, it’s a similar story: cut-outs can be square, rectangular, hexagonal, circular – anything, really. If a shape exists, it can be fashioned into a cut-out. AREA even go so far as to have heart and flower cut-outs.
If you think cut-outs are primarily for nights out and antics of that sort, you would be wrong. For Sandra Mansour, they appear on dresses worthy of getting married in, and Cormio up the cute levels on their knitted playsuits with cut-outs that replace front buttons. And neither of these examples detract from all the times when cut-outs really do just ooze sex. Ultimately, this is why we love them.
Here’s our selection of cut-outs to love and enjoy for the summer months.
